5 reasons why you should use the EcoQuest video game to teach young people about EU participation for the environment

In the final stages of our EcoQuest project, the last step was to test the video game with our target groups to obtain their feedback and update the game. The project partners reached a total of 181 young people aged 15-25 and 19 educators and teachers.

Volunteering offers young people a unique opportunity to make a difference in the world while gaining valuable personal and professional skills. The European Union provides a range of programs to inspire young people to take action, grow, and engage with their communities.

Climate change can often seem distant and abstract, especially to young people. Yet, engaging them emotionally and intellectually is crucial for inspiring meaningful action. Storytelling, particularly through narrative video games, offers a dynamic approach by transforming complex global issues into personal and relatable experiences.

In today’s digital world, digital literacy and digital citizenship are critical for empowering youth to have access to the tools they need in their personal and professional lives. With the rise of technology, people of all ages, especially youth, must not only navigate digital spaces but also engage responsibly and ethically as a part of a heavily connected society.

In education and training, gamification and game-based learning have become major trends. These approaches promise to engage learners more effectively and make learning more fun. However, like any teaching method, they have advantages and disadvantages.

Europe has taken significant steps to address climate change through comprehensive policies and initiatives. The European Green Deal aims to transform the EU into a modern, resource-efficient economy with no net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Climate change stands as one of the most pressing issues of our time. The escalating environmental crisis demands immediate and proactive involvement, and young people are at the forefront of this battle.

However, despite their keen awareness and enthusiasm for addressing environmental challenges, many feel powerless against the monumental scale of global issues like climate change.
